Lifesavers Foundation 2019 Northern Region Summer Business Appeal

As a business, you strive for growth and increased profitability. Surf lifesavers, on the other hand, are facing unprecedented demand for frontline services, while funding requirements continue to grow.

Population growth, coastal residential developments, burgeoning tourism, and New Zealanders’ attachment to beaches are all factors in the increased pressure upon volunteers, their equipment, and their resources. More equipment and longer hours require the additional support of socially responsible businesses and donors to help provide vital lifesaving services.

Now is the time for your business to donate to the Lifesavers Foundation 2019 Northern Region Summer Business Appeal, and look after those who are looking after us.

The Opportunity

Keeping heads above water

Our 2019 Summer Business Appeal in support of Surf Life Saving Northern Region seeks to enlist the support of New Zealand businesses In the Auckland, northern Waikato and Northland – large and small – to help fund equipment and operating costs.

There are 17 surf lifesaving clubs in the Northern Region, patrolling 26 of the most frequented beaches in Waikato, Auckland, and Northland.

Over 2000 volunteers patrol for more than 88,500 hours, performing more than 38% of the national lifeguarding activity in a season spanning a full six months.

Providing this vital service across the Northern Region now costs around $9,000,000.

$960,000 is required in each of the next three years to modernise, standardise and expand the life saving equipment base to make it fit-for-purpose.

Last year, these volunteers saved over 400 lives, rescued 43,000 from harm, and provided first aid care to over a thousand. At the request of the 111 emergency services, they respond to in-water and on-beach emergencies 24/7.

The Lifesavers Foundation exists to directly support surf lifesaving clubs with the funding and resources they require to meet proven public expectations and demand, and to help fund equipment and operating costs.

Each year, the surf lifesaving clubs in the Northern Region movement must fundraise $7,000,000.

Each year, lifesavers need your help.
